The Assam government initiated the Assam Orunodoi Scheme on 1st December 2020. Under this Orunodoi Scheme, the beneficiaries will get Rs. 830 per month to buy fundamental necessities like medicines, pulses, sugar, etc. Rs 400 will be given to purchase medicines, Rs 200 will be specified to buy 4 kilograms of pulses, Rs 80 to get sugar, and Rs 150 to purchase fruit origin. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will get the amount directly in their bank accounts with the help of the direct benefit transfer method. Under the Assam Orunodoi scheme, the government of Assam has decided to spend Rs 2400 crore annually.

Principal Beneficiary Under the Assam Orunodoi Scheme
Under this scheme around 22 lakh, beneficiaries will be covered. The chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal has launched this Scheme during a function held at Amingaon in Kamrup district. The female members of the families will receive the benefits of this scheme. This step will increase women’s empowerment. Under this scheme, those families will get prime concern where there are windows, divyang, unmarried girls etc. Apart from this, The government is also preparing to attach eight lakh more families under this scheme. For this 22 lakh beneficiary, the Assam Government will transfer the amount to the 18.60 lakh to the families of 29 districts.
- The remaining beneficiaries of the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts will obtain the benefit amount after BTC(Bodoland territorial council) elections. These districts include- Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri.
- The beneficiaries will start receiving the money from the month of November and on 1st December 2020.
- For the month of December, the government will transfer the concerned amount to all the beneficiary’s bank account on 26 December 2020.
Advantages Of the Scheme
Under this scheme, the beneficiary women will get the amount through the direct bank transfer method. This amount is entitled to be transferred every year for the next five years. Under this scheme, those women will be the prime concern, who are physically disabled/ widow/ divorced/ unmarried/ separated or handicapped. There are numerous types of advantages that the beneficiaries will get in this scheme some are as given below:-
- An estimate of 2800 crore rupees is kept aside for this Scheme, Out of which each year 10 thousand rupees to be given to around 27 lakh helpless families through DBT.
- The government is providing support of Rs. 830 per month that will signify an additional per annum income of Rs. 10,000 to the poverty-stricken families.
- In addition, schools will receive 25 lakh rupees particularly for 200-grade schools on the pilot reason for the improvement of their foundation.
- The government of Assam will provide free sterile napkins to teenage ladies studying in sixth to twelfth norms in the government and government-aided schools.
- Apart from this, the Assam government has started Sarba Brihat DBT Scheme on 17 August and the Beneficiary option will start when the regional level advisory group will start.

The Entitled Beneficiaries

Selection Process for the Assam Orunodoi Scheme
The Selection process for the Assam Orunodoi Scheme is as mentioned below-
- A district-level monitoring committee will finalize the list of all the beneficiaries as per the guidelines.
- Under this scheme, preliminary selection will be completed at the village council development committee/Gaun Panchayat/urban local body
- The village council development committee/Gaun Panchayat/urban local body is needed to make an undertaking cum checklist as per the eligibility/ineligibility conditions
- Then the checklist will be connected to Annexure A
- This checklist will be assembled LAC wise by the member secretary, DLMC so that it can be raised at the district level monitoring committee for prioritization and selection
- Along with that, the district-level committee is needed to prioritize the list of all applicants.
- Certainly, this committee will be in charge of ensuring the filing of comprehensive application forms of concerning beneficiaries
- With the help of this form, the bank details and other information will be gathered.
- In the end, the approved final list will be uploaded.
- After the uploading process, the details of the beneficiaries will be substantiated.

- After completing all the essential processes the finance department is going to hand over the amount into the bank account of beneficiaries through the PFMS(Public financial method system)

Implementation Structure Of Assam Orunodoi Scheme
- The finance department of government Assam will be responsible for the monitoring of the Assam Orunodoi scheme.
- The commissioner and secretary of the finance department will implement this scheme under their own supervision.
- The finance department of Assam is entitled as the state-level nodal agency for the implementation process.
- The deputy commissioner will supervise the implementation strategy of the scheme at the district level.
- For district levels, the government will also form a district level monitoring committee
- For effective implementation of this scheme at the district level and in order to aid the applicants in every district, the government is initiating to appoint an Orunodoi Sahayak at a fixed amount of Rs 15000 per month in all the legislative assemblies.
